Kill Bill: Volume 1
Grade: A 07/23/2014
I have watched this film again recently and have bumped that "-" of the A rating. For what this film is trying to do...it is a perfect movie. It is so refreshing to have a filmmaker like Tarantino around who shows off his love for movies whist making his own. Everything about KILL BILL is over the top. The concept, the acting, the structure, and of course, the violence. But it all just works perfectly. Uma Thurman will always be remembered as "The Bride", because it is one of those iconic roles that can define a career. Watching this film is like riding an advanced roller coaster. There are hills, valleys, drops, corkscrews, and loops....and it is always racing forward with break-neck speed. The Crazy 88 fight in the closing scene is so exciting, bloody, and funny...it is impossible to wipe the smile off your face.
