Pan's Labyrinth
Grade: A- 07/23/2014
Guillermo Del Toro created a haunting, visionary experience with this film. I love it when a filmmaker can take outrageous imagination and contextualize it in a real-world scenario. The dreams and fantasies of a little girl tormented by events in fascist spain is so heartbreaking, so scary, and so tragic, and you can't possibly turn away. The creatures and worlds that this girl experiences are as beautiful as anything you have ever seen in fantastical cinema. I really revere this film. It truly is magical.
